MENTORING

Burkina Faso is currently marked by a high rate of unemployment, the consequences of which are harmful to the socio-economic development of the country.

Thanks to Mentoring, which is a mode of learning that involves the support offered by a person who has acquired extensive experience in a given field (the mentor) to another person who has less experience in this field (the mentee).

Women entrepreneurs can thus benefit from advice and tools enabling them to gain empowerment, achieve their professional goals and meet the challenges of growing their businesses.

In general, mentoring is offered on a voluntary basis and over a long period of time. You can become a mentor or mentee regardless of your age or stage of business growth.

The Mentor

The mentor in his attributes listens attentively to the learner, stipulates to him by the experimental method the keys to resolving his imperfections. Through his support, he breaks the isolation of the trainee learner and facilitates his natural integration into the professional environment.

Being a mentor allows you to apply the famous phrase “pay it forward”. It is indeed a good way to promote entrepreneurship, prepare the next generation and play a leading role in the success of the latter.

It is a great honor for the mentee to see his mentee (his foal) succeed thanks to this advice.

The primary responsibilities of a mentor to a mentee are :

- offer them personalized support to help them develop their entrepreneurial skills;

- share your experience, working methods and techniques with him.

- play the role of motivator;

-provide him with feedback, especially when making decisions.

The mentee

Being mentored allows you to benefit from the expertise and support of experienced businesswomen.

Being a female entrepreneur mentee allows you to develop quickly through coaching which will allow leadership, the ability to achieve a better balance between personal and professional life, and a networking opportunity for the mentee because the mentor opens up his network to her during their relationship.

Being mentored can help the female entrepreneur to:

-Breaking the isolation resulting from a new professional situation;

- Clarify the development and growth objectives of his company;

-Acquire new knowledge related to the business field;

-Improve the chances of survival of your business;

- Find a balance between your professional and personal needs.

-Avoid the pitfalls and failures of the entrepreneurial journey

Some structures offer mentoring projects:

-CIAPEES (International Center for Learning, Improvement, Entrepreneurship and Services Expertise)

For a training center like CIAPEES, the mentoring system is one of the solutions to deal with the problems of unemployment and boost the level of entrepreneurship of young people given its many advantages for both the mentor and the mentee, it promotes employability. and competence of its learners in business.

This is the “work-study program – training – life-size practical exercise” methodology for an education-training-competence-job-employment match.

Areas of intervention :

-Professional and practical training in the areas of qualification in order to increase skills and employability.

- The formation of entrepreneurship by incubation

- Upgrading the skills of workers through continuing education

- Promoting the quality of public and private services through studies and advice
