Kunzwana Women’s Association
Established in 1995, Kunzwana Women’s Association is a Zimbabwean non-governmental organization whose vision is to facilitate women living in rural areas to be included in all Zimbabwean developmental and economic processes.
Kunzwana’s economic empowerment programs are embedded in equipping rural women with requisite skills to engage in profitable entrepreneurship.
Kunzwana has signed MOUs with 17 District Administrators and has a presence in 234 villages in 5 Provinces namely - Mashonaland East, Masvingo, Midlands, Matebeleland North and Manicaland.
Training provided by the organization
ISALS/VSALS are the first step in financial management among rural women entrepreneurs. Women are assisted by Kunzwana staff to start an ISAL/VSAL. They receive financial literacy training including record keepings. They are provided with ideas on investments and savings. These funds are usually only sufficient to procure a communal item/equipment such as grinding meal, vegetable drier, sewing machine, candle making molders which can be shared. Conflict resolution and group dynamics are usually included in the elementary stage of training on ISALs/VSAL.
Kunzwana has established a training centre in a rural setting for women entrepreneurs. The centre has 5 functioning workshops including a conference room and a digital training hub.
