Business management training for women entrepreneurs in Eritrea

Business management entails the planning, organizing of tasks, monitoring and efficient utilization of the resources of a business. It is an essential skill for starting and running businesses which will enable them to make their business successful. Businesses have a better chance to succeed if they utilize limited resources efficiently. In addition, how to run a business in an ethical way, managing a business' social responsibility, fair competition and legal obligations are some of the aspects any women entrepreneur should concern herself with.

Ministry of Agriculture

The mission of the Ministry of Agriculture is to create a technologically advanced agriculture sector to contribute to food security, economic growth and improvement of the livelihood of Eritrean society. The ministry conducts training in a number of areas, ranging from poultry farming to bee keeping and horticulture.


TRAINING PROVIDED

Poultry development unit
• Training is given in poultry farming mainly before chicks are distributed. 
• The training is mostly given at the MoA and zoba branches. 
• Training is given twice a year and it takes 1-2 weeks to complete the training.

Bee keeping development unit
• Practical training given in the field. Services are provided before distribution of beehives and harvesting time. 
• Mostly the training is given at the MoA branches of zobas. 
• On the average, training is provided three times a year. 
• It takes 1-2 weeks to complete training.

Horticulture development unit
• Training is given in all zobas, except Southern Red Sea.
• Training is provided quarterly with a maximum of two weeks.  

Additional services which are beneficial to women entrepreneurs
All agricultural inputs such as chicks, beehives, dairy animals, different types of equipment and training.


EVENTS BY MoA

Some women entrepreneurs are selected to showcase their products at international events, in order to benefit from the exposure.
