Mentorship for Seychellois women entrepreneurs

The survival rate of new businesses can be intimidating to entrepreneurs, but those numbers can change drastically when a mentor is added to the equation. Mentors give you the opportunity to draw on their experience right away -- and for free. Here are some local organizations that provide support to women entrepreneurs in that regard.

Soroptimist is a leading global women's voluntary organization. It was started in 1921 in California, by Violet Richardson and other professional women who wanted equal pay for men and women. This international platform now has close to 90,000 members in over 100 countries.

The word comes from Latin: ‘soror’ means ‘sisters’ and ‘optima’ means ‘best’. Therefore, the two words put together mean ‘the best for sisters’.

The primary focus of this International Club is transforming the lives of women, girls and children nationally and globally through education, empowerment and enabling initiatives. Our key words are Educate, Empower and Enable. This is because when women are educated and empowered, they become the driving force of the family and in the community.
