The country's top 20 taxi drivers are receiving financial education training to equip them with the knowledge and skills to help them make the right financial decisions, reflect on the attitudes that lead to better financial decisions, and reinforce them in their decision making. money management decision. The initiative is carried out in partnership with the ICIEG, the Road Prevention Driving School, the José Gonçalves Foundation, the Center for Employment and is financed by Caixa Económica de Cabo Verde within the framework of its social responsibility policy in terms of financial literacy. This training takes place at a time when the 20 participants are about to complete their professional taxi driver training and later receive the professional aptitude card, CAP. And considering that global access to finance for businesses is indicated as one of the main obstacles, especially for the young population which presents higher levels of risk reflected in the criteria normally required for financing, such as the experience, equity ownership. and warranty. However, experiences in different latitudes show that these problems can be alleviated through financial education. In this sense, the ICIEG understands that empowerment, in fact, involves education and is financially vital. He therefore urges partners to remain firmly committed to supporting female taxi drivers so that together we can empower them to work actively in the labor market as professional taxi drivers.
