BENIN INTERNATIONAL DAY OF THE GIRL 2019: THE NATIONAL ASSOCIATION OF CHILDREN'S COUNCILS OF BENIN (ANACEB) CARRIES THE MESSAGE OF GIRLS On this special day when the international community and Benin celebrate the Girl, ANACEB, comes to greet the actors at various levels for the efforts made so far to improve the living conditions of girls in our country. We would particularly like to express our gratitude to our Government and to His Excellency, our dear and beloved father Mr. Patrice TALON, President of the Republic. To all TFPs and CSOs, we express our gratitude. Unfortunately, these efforts are still very far from the challenges that still face us in the difficult daily life of girls in our society. Indeed, the consecration of this date is due … to difficulties different from those that adult women may encounter: early marriage and pregnancy, excision, …, trafficking, etc. Beyond describing to you here the problems, the hell that the girls live in our communities, … we judged better to tell you what we want, … to positively change our life, our country. It was therefore after a week of campaigning… that hundreds of girls…, sometimes with tears in their eyes, spoke to us about what they want in order to live a happy, fulfilled life. Girls in Benin say: No to discrimination; No to early marriage; No to exploitation; … The girls of Benin say No to violence and abuse in all its forms. The girls of Benin say: Yes to the flawless application of the texts of laws; Yes to gender equality; Yes to access to information, particularly in terms of sexual and reproductive health; … We, the girls of Benin, also want to participate in decision-making that concerns us. We want a society that values us and invests in us for a better world.
