BENIN: IMPROVED FISH SMOKING FOR THE BENEFIT OF COASTAL WOMEN 10% of halieutic resources from artisanal fishing in Benin are processed. Smoking fish is an income-generating activity for many women. But these expose themselves to chronic diseases and expose consumers to cancerous diseases, because of unhealthy processing techniques. These techniques also have consequences for the environment, through the intensive use of mangroves. The empowerment project for women fish smokers on the Littoral in Benin implemented by JVE Benin contributes to improving the living conditions of women by popularizing improved smoking technology quotblock ovensquot.
