RURAL WOMEN'S DAY (JFR) 2019: BENIN CELEBRATES THE MERIT OF RURAL WOMEN In her speech, on the occasion of the official events of the 2019 edition of the International Day of Rural Women, Mèdessè Véronique TOGNIFODE MEWANOU, Minister Social Affairs and Microfinance has promoted the qualities of rural women. Before the technical and financial partners, the politico-administrative authorities and several women's groups, this Tuesday, October 15, 2019 at the Town Hall of Pobè (Plateau), Minister TOGNIFODE MEWANOU recalled that in Benin, quotabout 61.3% of women live in rural areas where they provide 60 to 80% of the agricultural workforce”. She took the opportunity of this Day to recall the efforts made by the Government to improve the living conditions of women in Benin and especially their empowerment through several actions carried out, in accordance with the Government's Action Program. From Pobè, Mèdessè Véronique TOGNIFODE MEWANOU appealed to public opinion for the preservation and enhancement of women's rights in Benin. She also invited Beninese to encourage these rural women by consuming our local products.
