CELEBRATION OF INTERNATIONAL RURAL WOMEN'S DAY, 2019 EDITION / SENEGAL

Strengthening the resilience to the climate crisis of rural women and girls / Senegal

15 Nov 2019 - 00:00:00
In 2018, Younouféré, in the department of Ranérou, hosted the celebration of the International Day of Rural Women around a program linking agriculture, education and health. Senegal, through the Ministry of Women, Family, Gender and Child Protection, celebrated on Tuesday, October 29, 2019 in Notto (Thies region), the Rural Women's Day instituted by the community with the aim of measuring the progress made and identifying the constraints and emerging needs in order to provide appropriate responses to the new challenges. This great ambition to make rural women the engine of economic growth in the world is in perfect harmony with the desire of the Head of State, His Excellency Mr. Macky SALL, to make Senegalese women locomotives in his project to lead the Senegal towards emergence in 2035. This political will is accompanied by the implementation of various social programs such as PUDC, PUMA, the family security grant and Universal Health Coverage which lay the foundations for local development and social inclusion through the reduction of the arduousness of domestic work, the strengthening of productivity and the improvement of the quality of life in rural areas. The Ministry in charge of Gender in Senegal, after the National Gender Equity and Equality Strategy (SNEEG), finalized the National Strategy for the Economic Empowerment of Women (SNAEF) which pays particular attention to women through its vision, which is to contribute to the economic autonomy of women and young girls through the emergence of an inclusive, sustainable and growth-enhancing entrepreneurship.
