BISSAU HOSTS THE WORKSHOP ON MICROFINANCE FOR TWO DAYS

The Ministry of Economy and Finance, through the Agency for the Surveillance of Savings and Microcredit Activities, organized between the 7th and 8th of this month a workshop on the importance of inclusion financial aspect of microcredit and its economic and social impact. The workshop, which brought together women and young people from economic activity, aimed to empower economic operators from different branches on the importance of financial inclusion as an instrument to fight for equality and reduce of poverty and inequality. The opening of the meeting was chaired by the Minister of Finance, Geraldo Martins. Mussuba Canté, Director General of the Agency for the Surveillance of Savings and Microcredit Activities, endeavored to facilitate the negotiation of women exercising activities in the corridor of the countries of the African Economic Community. Filomeno Lobo de Pina, Advisor to the National Director of the BCEAO (West Bank, Central Africa) in Guinea-Bissau, recognizes the leading role of the microfinance sector in the process of financial inclusion, like other countries of the UEMOA (West African Economic and Monetary Union. Lobo de Pina advised the government to pay more attention and adopt a more relevant position with regard to the situation of the microfinance sector. Redouble efforts to expand and decriminalize their services, making them not only more accessible, but also compatible with the financial and technical capacities of the populations.
