Following the report, at the end of December 2019, by China of the occurrence on its territory of a disease with epidemic potential, attributed to a new coronavirus n-Cov19, renamed COVID-19, the World Health Organization (WHO ) declared, on January 30, 2020, the epidemic due to the new virus as a Public Health Emergency of International Scope (USPPI) and declared a Pandemic on March 11, 2020. The African continent is no longer spared and Senegal has experienced its first positive COVID-19 case on March 2, 2020. For now, there is no specific vaccine, research is ongoing. Support, symptomatic, must be associated with prevention of the risk of transmission of the virus by barrier gestures. Faced with this unprecedented situation, the Head of State, His Excellency Mr. Macky SALL President of the Republic has taken exceptional measures which are articulated in the economic and social resilience program (PRES) budgeted at 1000 billion FCFA including one of the pillars focuses on strengthening the social resilience of populations. It is in this context that UN WOMEN responded favorably to the request of the Ministry in charge of Women, by agreeing to finance the pilot phase of the initiative called quotWomen are part of the solutionquot. What sets this program apart is its innovative approach of sourcing rice produced by women to feed vulnerable families. For the pilot phase, 10,000 households will benefit from this program worth 100 million FCFA. The signing of the financing agreement took place on April 07, 2020 between 12:30 p.m. and 1:30 p.m., at the premises of the Ministry of Women in the presence of the Minister, the Regional Director of ONUFEMMES and the Director General of BICIS representing BNP Paris Bas partner finance for the project.
