A WEEK TO PROMOTE THE PRIVATE SECTOR

On Monday, November 04, 2019, the very first edition of the Private Sector Week (SSF) opened at the February 2 hotel in Lomé. For five days the private sector in Togo will be in the spotlight. Placed under the theme quotPrivate sector, engine of growth and socio-economic development of Togoquot, the Private Sector Week is jointly organized by the Togolese government through the Ministry of Trade, Industry, Private Sector Development and promoting local consumption and the private sector. The objective of the Private Sector Week is to review the concerns of the private sector in order to enable it to fully play its role in the implementation of the National Development Plan (PND). A plan in which the private sector is also one of the strong links with a contribution to the expected achievement of 65%. During two days of high-level discussions and panels moderated by prestigious personalities, members of the government, resident representatives of international organizations, presidents of regional and national banking institutions, presidents of private sector organizations, heads of companies will revolve around several themes. In particular, it will be a question of taxation and the promotion of the private sector, the promotion of local consumption, the migration from the informal to the formal, access to financing for SMEs / SMIs, the African Continental Free Trade Area (ZLECAF), training and employment or the role of digital technology. The other days will be dedicated to public-private sector open days. The kick-off of the activities was given on Saturday, November 02, 2019 through a caravan and a sports walk in Lomé, in which officials took part. It should be noted that this meeting comes just a few days after the publication of the DOING BUSINESS report, which makes Togo the 3rd reforming country worldwide and the 1st reforming country in Africa.
