On Tuesday, November 19, 2019, Mrs. Ndeye Saly Diop DIENG, Minister of Women, Family, Gender and Child Protection chaired the opening ceremony of the Workshop for sharing and upgrading Member Organizations and Affiliated structures of the Union of Associations of Local Elected Officials (UAEL) on the implementation of PADESS in the regions of DAKAR, KAOLACK and SEDHIOU. Indeed, the advent of Act III of decentralization, which consecrates the territorialization of public policies, testifies to the will of the highest authorities of our country, in this case His Excellency, Mr. MACKY SALL, President of the Republic , to make local authorities the levers of local development. In this perspective, they are encouraged to promote and implement local development initiatives, by mobilizing their own resources and additional means, in particular through cooperation projects and programs. It is in this context, which is particularly favorable to the promotion of local development, that the State of Senegal, in partnership with the Italian Government, initiated the PADESS within the framework of the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and the Senegal Emergence Plan (PSE). Among other things, the Program aims to contribute to poverty reduction, targeting the local socio-economic empowerment of women and sustainable local economic development through support for small and medium-sized enterprises.
