The Gambia Women Enterprise Fund Bill

The National Assembly of The Gambia on September 24th 2020, passed the first ever Women Enterprise Fund Bill, which was presented by the Honorable Minister of Women, Children and Social Welfare, Madam Fatou Kinteh. The omen enterprise fund is one of the critical poverty alleviation strategies enshrined in the National Development Plan 2018-2021, as a strategic priorities and outcome indicators relating to women economic empowerment for sustainable development. The main objective of the fund is to strengthen capacities of small and medium enterprises (SMEs), which are largely dominated by womento increase income and provide livelihood skills for more than 10,000 women and girls countrywide. A tune of 5million Dalasis revolving fund has been contributed by the Gambia Government and 3 million Euro by the European Union.
