Togo like the other countries of the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS), the Common Market for Eastern and Southern Africa (COMESA) and the African Community of Est (CAE) proceeded on Thursday March 18, 2021 in Lomé to the national media launch of the platform “50 million African women have the floor”. The initiative, which is placed under the aegis of the Ministry of Social Action, the Promotion of Women and Literacy, aims to promote the economic empowerment of women through networking, sharing and access to information.

Today, bringing together some forty African countries, the platform quot50 million African women have the floorquot will help accelerate the economic empowerment of women entrepreneurs through digital technology but also to create visibility for businesses owned by women. .

In her opening remarks, the Minister of Social Action for the Promotion of Women and Literacy, Adjovi Lonlongno Apedo-Anakoma presiding over the ceremony, welcomed the initiative and called on women to use the platform quot 50 million African women have their say ”. She noted that according to a study dating from 2019, quot24% of women are involved in business creationquot. She praised the various decrees of the Togolese government which devote 25% of public market shares to women. She continued on a note of hope that this platform that Togo is launching “will ensure the sustainability of women's businesses” and will thus mark “a new stage in the process of women's empowerment”. She invited the fairer sex to appropriate it and use it.

In the same dynamic as the member of the government, the Consultant manager of this platform at the local level, Stéphanie Afan, who presented the platform, sees this launch at the national level, quota big step that has just been takenquot. She in turn remains optimistic and sees a better tomorrow coming for women and especially those who are entrepreneurs. She invited the audience to use the title of ambassador to better publicize this platform, the facilities and opportunities it offers to women.

Recall that the platform project quot50 million African women have the floorquot was funded to the tune of 6.5 billion FCFA by the African Development Bank (AfDB) and launched in 2017 by the East African Community (EAC), the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS) and the Common Market for Eastern and Southern Africa (COMESA).
