THE PND, A LEVER FOR THE ECONOMIC EMPOWERMENT OF TOGOLESE WOMEN

DISTRIBUTION OF EQUIPMENT TO THE MOST DYNAMIC WOMEN'S GROUPS IN TABLIGBO

31 Jul 2019 - 00:00:00
Every year on July 31, African countries celebrate African Women's Day. For this edition, Togo through the Ministry of Social Action, Promotion of Women and Literacy has not missed the call. The national theme chosen this year quotThe PND, a lever for the economic empowerment of Togolese womenquot fits perfectly with the National Development Plan (PND) 2018-2022, in its axis 3 devoted to the consolidation of social development and the strengthening mechanisms for inclusion. The theme chosen is consistent with Priority Area No. 1 of the African Women's Decade 2010-2020, adopted by the African Union, which aims to reduce poverty and promote the economic empowerment of women and their entrepreneurial activities. It is also part of achieving Goal 5 of the SDGs: “Achieve gender equality and empower all women and girls”. Togo plans to pursue the promotion of gender equity and equality and the empowerment of women, as one of the determining conditions that should allow it to move from economic growth of 5.3% to 7.6% by 2022. To achieve this, special emphasis is placed on female entrepreneurship through women's access to land and credit. To make the apotheosis of this edition is marked by raising awareness around the theme of the event coupled with the delivery of equipment to the most dynamic women's groups, this July 31 in Tabligbo.
