Access to finance for women entrepreneurs in Seychelles

A number of financial institutions provide financial products which women entrepreneurs in Seychelles can benefit from. Some of these schemes include:

  • Agriculture Development Fund
  • Fisheries Development Fund
  • SME Scheme
  • Blue Grant
  • National Arts and Culture Fund
  • Youth Local Grant
  • Tax Incentives

There are several other options for financing your business. These include: funding the business yourself; asking friends and family; seeking a concessionary loan; seeking funding from an angel investor (angel investors are successful businesspersons who focus on helping startup businesses) or; negotiating an advance from a strategic partner or customer.

Blue Grants Fund
Businesses and organizations involved in protected areas management, fisheries and the “blue economy”.
Small (SCR 100,000 / 1 year); and
Large (SCR up to 1 million / 2 years)
SeyCCAT opens a competitive request for proposals once or twice per year.

Blue Investment Fund
Businesses involved in / businesses interested in entering the sustainable seafood value chain.
Concessional loans (approx. 3%): a revolving fund to extend commercial loans to projects aimed at sustainably expanding the seafood value chains.

My First Job Scheme
Youth, graduates need to provide:
• Recognized Authority;
• Copy of License issued by SLA, where applicable; and,
• Copy of pay slips.

For those registered as an employer on the employer’s database. Refund of 40% of salary for a period of 1 year, refund to be
capped at SCR 7000 a month.
