Women empowerment in Seychelles

Women make half of the world's population, which is reason enough to empower women. Studies have shown women start small businesses faster than men. In Seychelles, women's life expectancy is longer than men hence more emphasis has been put in regards to bettering the lives of women for equal opportunities as their male counterparts. A number of institutions are involved in women empowerment initiatives and these are listed below.

FemBioBiz

The FemBioBiz Acceleration Programme was created to develop leadership, technological and business skills in female-owned businesses within the Southern African Development Community (SADC). The program creates a platform for peer learning and will empower women to lead in health and nutrition through science and technology. This is a Fembio project aimed at empowering women.

FemBioBiz was launched by the NEPAD (New Partnership for Africa's Development) Southern Africa Network for Biosciences (SANBio) with support from BioFISA II, a Finnish-Southern African Partnership Programme.

The program creates a platform for peer learning and will empower women to lead in health and nutrition through science and technology.

The Guy Morel Institute with the support of National Institute for Science, Technology and Innovation - NISTI coordinates the competition in Seychelles.
