In Tanzania, the proportion of women with access to financial services is low compared to that of men due to several social-economical factors.This, in spite of the big role women entrepreneurs contribute to the national economy.

This financing gap has attracted the attention of development actors; they are advocating for a fair distribution of productive resources between men and women.

Some statistics

  •  51.2% of women access formal financial services compared to 63% of men
  • 17.1% of women hold accounts in financial institutions against 21.1% of men 
  • 27% of adult women own Mobile Phones as opposed to 38% of men 
  • 44% of the women use Mobile Money against 54% of men .

What can help to narrow the  gap ?

  • Ever growing Digital Financial Services; and the
  • Development of Women Specific Financial Products and Services.

ABOUT CRDB BANK

 

 

 

National Bank of Commerce (NBC) is the oldest serving Bank in Tanzania with over five decades of experience. Established in 1967 when Tanzania Government nationalized all financial institutions, including banks, the bank offers a range of retail, business, corporate and investment banking, wealth management products and services.

 In 2000, South Africa financial services group ABSA Group Limited acquired a majority stake in NBC. The Government of Tanzania retained a 30% shareholding and International Finance Corporation (IFC), a member of the World Bank Group, took up to 15% shareholding in the bank. The new entity became known as NBC Limited.

 NBC is the only international bank with a presence all over the country. With 51 branches and over 230 ATMs, NBC delivers a unique collection and banking capability to its customers.

NBC Cash cover facility gives customer an access to a short-term loan of up to 90% of the amount deposited in a customer account.

NBC provides Group loan which will be covered by insurance against the risk of death, permanent disability and/r retrenchment.

  • Cash to meet personal expenditures
  •  Flexibility and convenience in repayment periods and amounts
  • Credit insurance designed to pay benefits when you pass away, become permanently disabled and when you get retrenched.
  • Available to monthly salaried employees of public or private companies or institutions.
  • Equal monthly repayment instalments throughout the loan period
  • Repayment period of up to 72 months.
