ABOUT WORLD VEGETABLE CENTRE

 

World Vegetable Centre (WorldVeg) is a nonprofit international Institute for research and development founded in Taiwan in 1971. In Tanzania, the Institute is based in Arusha and has an office branch in Zanzibar.

WorldVeg research provides small-scale farmers with the knowledge, skills, technologies, and opportunities to boost their vegetable yields and increase their incomes. Its major activities focus on strengthening the entire vegetable value chain; breeding and vegetable seed systems; market linkages and awareness of the need for a healthy diet. Investigate of Misconduct against provides: the department receive and investigate complaints and misconduct against legal aid providers and take actions where it is necessary.

WorldVeg maintains the world’s largest public sector collection of vegetable seeds. Tanzania office holds more than 2,700 accessions, 78% of which are traditional crops shared with farmers and researchers.
