Zambian woman entrepreneur turns goat milk into soap

Baobab Swirls, a beauty and cosmetic firm focuses on handcrafted soaps, was founded in 2018 by Rosalina Mwanza.  At the 93rd Zambia Agricultural and Commercial Show 2019 where Baobab Swirls took part and showcased beauty and cosmetics products, sales representative Leah Kanenga said the soaps are made locally using small batches and are designed by a soap artisan. The main ingredient of the soap is goat milk which is sourced in Livingstone.

The soap bars naturally retain glycerine created during the soap making process resulting in a naturally moisturizing soap that is good for the skin. Some of the soaps produced by Baobab Swirls include; Charcoal Hemp Goat Milk Soap, Baby Goat Milk Soap and Oatmeal Honey Goat Milk Soap, each with specific and unique functions.

Ms Kanenga added that their products have been tested and passed fit for the market by the Zambia Bureau of Standards, therefore, once they acquire funds to improve their labeling and packaging, the company will begin supplying to large supermarkets. Currently the firm trades digitally through their social media platform and supply to Lusaka Co-op, a store in located in Longacres, Lusaka.
