IN BENIN, SÈMÈ CITY: INNOVATION MADE IN AFRICA

BUILDING TOMORROW'S SUCCESS TODAY

Launched as part of “Benin Revealed”, an unprecedented government investment and development program, Sèmè City is a unique project in Africa.

City dedicated to innovation and knowledge, Sèmè City brings together high-level training institutions, research and development centers, as well as incubators of innovative solutions to meet the challenges of Benin and Africa.

Through Sèmè City, Benin wishes to train a new generation of talent and promote the emergence of new models of inclusive and sustainable growth based on Made in Africa innovation. The challenge is clear: respond to the economic challenges of Benin and more generally of Africa, to offer opportunities for the future to the youth of the continent. By 2030, nearly 200,000 learners will have benefited from Sèmè City's training programs, and more than 190,000 direct and indirect jobs, including ⅓ of self-employment, will have been created.

Sèmè City is being built in successive phases on 200 hectares in Sèmè-Podji, a peri-urban area strategically located by the sea, 5 km from Nigeria and near a classified forest. Sèmè City is part of an African smart city concept, using technological innovations while fully integrating the assets and particularities of its environment.

The first quotSèmè Onequot innovation campus opens its doors in Cotonou at the start of the 2019 academic year. Its operators include Epitech Benin, the reference school in IT expertise, and Africa Design School, the first school offering a Bachelor in Design. Digital (BDes) in West Africa.
