The importance of supporting and empowering women

Initiatives to support and empower women:

Work on these initiatives is carried out through government agencies and civil society organizations in all governorates of the Republic, and in cooperation with the regional offices of the Agency, which are located in all governorates of Egypt.

Through these initiatives, training needs are identified and women qualified for many trades to integrate them into the labor market

Women Entrepreneurs Go Ahead GET AHEAD:

This training program focuses on meeting the practical and strategic needs of low-income women entrepreneurs by enhancing their business management skills;

It also shows women how to develop personal entrepreneurial qualities and access to support through groups, networks, and institutions that deal with enterprise development.

The program is offered in cooperation with the International Labor Organization ( free of charge).

The training period is five days

the required conditions :

  • The age of the woman should be from 18 to 50 years
  • Proficiency in reading and writing (literacy up to intermediate certificate level)
  • The desire to establish a project or those who have a project

Required Documents

  • ID card or a copy of it

Target groups :

  • Women who have a project or want to set up projects
  • Women and men who have joint family projects

Women In Business (WIB) Egypt

The program works to create new horizons for Egyptian women to help them find opportunities for social and economic empowerment. The program is one of the programs implemented by the Business Advisory Services Program under the umbrella of the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development EBRD in cooperation with the Enterprise Development Agency, and aims to promote the concept of entrepreneurship among women in the sector business in Egypt.

the required conditions :

Criteria for selecting projects/companies and the conditions that must be met in order for companies to benefit from the program:

  • Size: The number of employees in the company is about 250 workers, with a maximum
  • Project life: at least two financial years
  • Ownership: a private enterprise owned or managed by women
  • Business sectors: all fields except for certain types such as: private banks, financial services and all types of insurance.
  • Integrity: The company and those in charge of its management must enjoy credibility and respect, and that no legal measures have been taken against them before.
  • Viability for growth: the company must have remarkable competitive advantages / have documented records during the past years / have the financial and administrative capabilities that have been able to implement recommendations and take effective measures.
  • Experience with external consulting services: to have an actual need for business services, and to have the ability to absorb what is offered to them.
  • Financial commitment: that the company is willing / able to bear 25% of the net value of the cost of the service provided to it.
  • Administrative commitment: The company’s management has the ability to sense / identify available opportunities and problems and determine their capabilities, accept advice and correction, commit to developing the company, show real support during the implementation of services, enjoy transparency and allow the Business Consulting Services (BAS) program to view the financial documents for the company.

Target groups :

Women's Economic Empowerment Program

The program works to create new horizons for Egyptian women to help them find opportunities for social and economic empowerment. It includes several initiatives, including the rehabilitation of women in marginalized areas to start a micro-project in line with societal needs, the initiative to revive and develop traditional crafts, and integrate women into value and supply chains.

The program aims to develop women’s skills in the art of business management and build new and different strategies to increase profits, through specialized training courses that help them bring about a fundamental change in their institutions in terms of relying on strong career cadres, which brings about a development that is reflected in profits and investment in a strong and effective way.

Pioneering Women 's Day Initiative

These meetings take place through a celebration for women leaders in one of the governorates, in the presence of representatives from international bodies, development partners, NGOs ... etc. The distinguished pioneers are honored on the sidelines of the celebration to emphasize the importance of women’s entrepreneurship, in addition to an exhibition of products for women’s projects that were funded by the agency.

The National Council for Women is an independent national council, affiliated to the President of the Republic. It was established by Law No. 30 of 2018. Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises Development Agency

About the device:

The Enterprise Development Agency is the entity concerned with developing medium, small and micro enterprises and entrepreneurship, either directly or through coordinating the efforts of all agencies, NGOs and initiatives working in the field of these projects, or through the companies it establishes or contributes to.

The device was established by a decision of the Prime Minister No. 947 of 2017, and amended by Decree No. 2370 of 2018, to be directly subordinate to the Prime Minister.
