Immigration Service Information
Madagascar is an island in the Indian Ocean . It is located east of South Africa and is separated from the mainland by the Mozambique Channel.
To enter Madagascar, all foreigners must have the documents and visas required by international conventions and the regulations in force. The organization and control of immigration is governed by Malagasy Law No. 62-006 of June 6, 1962 amended by Law No. 95-020 of July 24, 1995.
The authority in charge of immigration is the Minister of the Interior and Decentralization. It administers the territory and guarantees the safety of people and property.
Its mission is to develop and implement the general policy of the State, led by the Government, in terms of Deconcentration and Territorial Administration, decentralization and local development, preservation of public order. , civil protection and public freedoms.
It plays a central role in organizing the territory and maintaining the cohesion of the country's institutions. It guarantees citizens the exercise of the rights, duties and freedoms affirmed by the Constitution of the Fifth Republic.
Visas (Non-Immigrant Visa)
There are two (02) types of Visa for foreigners wishing to enter Madagascar, in particular:
- The Non-Immigrant Visa
- The Immigrant Visa
- Non-Immigrant or Short Stay Visa: < 3 months
The Short Stay Visa or Non-Immigrant Visa includes the following cases: Tourism, Conference, Seminar, Family Events, Sporting, Cultural or Religious Events, Medical Visit, Scientific Research, Yachtsman, Film Shooting, Cruise, Economic-Businessmen and cannot be converted into a long stay.
On the other hand, they are extendable at the Police Station for a total cumulative duration not exceeding three (03) months . The extension of the period of stay is granted only for cases of force majeure left to the discretion of the competent authorities on site in Madagascar.
- The tourist visa can be obtained on site, upon arrival at Madagascar airport . The issuance of a visa is subject to the submission of the aforementioned documents and the payment of fees.

Documents to provide:
- Two recent identity photographs;
- A form to fill out;
- A round trip ticket ;
- Photocopy of passport (valid for more than 6 months)
- Passport (valid for more than 6 months)
- Vaccination certificate against yellow fever for visitors who have stayed the last six days in infected countries;
- Payment of visa fee
