Import Information

The importation into Madagascar of many goods and products is free. These goods and products are therefore not subject to any prior authorization or import license. However, the import of certain products requires authorization or approval.

Under the authority of the Ministry of Economy and Finance, the General Directorate of Customs is responsible for designing and implementing the Government's Customs policy.

The Malagasy customs administration has the following main missions:

  • To achieve the government's objectives in terms of revenue collection,
  • To promote economic growth by facilitating legitimate trade,
  • To protect citizens and the environment by fighting against illicit trafficking, and to secure the international supply chain.
