The Rwanda DGIE issues 3 types of Passports:
- Ordinary Passport: issued to any Rwandan who fulfills the necessary requirements to facilitate his/her travels outside the country;
- The Service Passport: issued to Rwandan nationals or non-nationals (delegates of Rwanda) traveling abroad on official mission; and
- The Diplomatic Passport: issued to high ranking officials in the country or to those representing Rwanda abroad and others as may be specified by the ministerial order.

Known as the “Land of a thousand Hills”, Rwanda is situated in East – central Africa, bordered by Uganda to the North, Tanzania to the East, Burundi to the South and the Democratic Republic of Congo to the West.
Starting 1 January 2018, all foreign nationals traveling to Rwanda can be issued a visa on arrival at Kigali International Airport or any official border point.
